What Do I Do?
As a Clinical Psychology Practice operating in Illovo, just four minutes from Sandton City, the Grayston M1 off-ramp and Rivonia Road, I am centrally located to engage with the myriad complex issues presenting in this fast-paced environment. I am trained to assess, diagnose, intervene, treat, and prevent mental disorders, as well as to facilitate opportunities for growth and development. I use these skills to design and effect case specific treatment plans for the purpose of improving the life experience of each of my clients. I work with a diverse range of individuals and groups, from those with serious clinical conditions, to the individual who is seeking the special focused skills of a therapist to enhance their everyday functioning.
Who Do I Work With?
I welcome individuals, couples, families, parents, children and groups at any point in their lives. I welcome the many complex issues that come with each new case, be it loss of meaning in life, to facing the end of life; loneliness or feeling overwhelmed by too much; addiction in all its forms, to the challenges of interpersonal communication; learning difficulties or phobias; to living with a mental health diagnosis.
What Tools Do I Work With?
Each case presents with different needs and to this end treatment consists of differing forms. These include:
This practice is also experienced in MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction).
This practice offers interested individuals the opportunity to experience the unique benefits of Closed Group Psychotherapy. If you are interested in this powerful and dynamic form of therapy send a query from the Contact page to find out when the next group begins.
Life skills workshops targeting niche groups (e.g. individual difficulties, parents, teens, couples) are run periodically. These utilize a particular therapy called DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy). If you have a particular interest in these areas send a query from the Contact page to find out when the next workshops are running. These workshops are also run in school, community and business settings.
My Qualifications:
My training consists of a Ph.D(Wits), M.A.Clin.Psych(Wits), BA.Hons(Psych)(UNISA), BA.Hons (Eng)(Wits) and BA(Wits). I also attended the M.St in Women's Studies at Oxford, St. Cross College and I received my schooling in South Africa, the UK and the USA. I value, not only proven and current evidence-based research into successful treatments, but even more importantly the quality of mindfulness and attention I can bring into the therapy space. I am registered with the HPCSA (PS0113204) and with the BHF (0860010488542).
Typically sessions are 50 mins, although assessment sessions, couples sessions and workshops can be longer. For therapies that are covered by medical aids the client may submit the paid invoice with my practice number and the relevant ICD-10 code for reimbursement.
